BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) – Happy birthday to the city of Brazil!
The city is embracing 150 years, and what better way to bring it in than with an Old Fashioned Day Celebration?
Saturday’s celebration at Forest Park was all about looking back on the city’s history and traditions.
A special event taking place was the unveiling of a 50-year-old time capsule. Organizers say seeing residents re-open memories was a very special moment.
“We were all watching and you did get butterflies in your stomach,” said Karen McQueen, Clerk-Treasurer, “and it was a little emotional to see something like that, so it was very heartwarming.”
The city will re-bury the time capsule and unearth it in 2066.
Other events included a car and camper show, square dancing, gun and knife show, horseshoes and corn hole, fireworks celebration and more.
