TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Locals laced up their tennis shoes for a good cause.
Sunday was the Hope For Brionna 5K at Fairbanks Park.
The race is in honor of a little girl named Brionna who is fighting Mitochondrial Disease.
This is the fourth year for the event.
Brionna’s mom, Karen, says they’re all overwhelmed with the amount of support they’ve seen.
“Brionna, as you can see on her face, she is one happy little girl,” she said, “She’s a very outgoing and loving little girl that is so excited that people came out to help her raise awareness for this disease. She’s very touched by it, I could tell she was thrilled when we came in the parking lot to see everyone here.”
If you’d like to help Brionna and her family, you can visit their Facebook page for more information.
