New law requires IMBD to remove actor’s age on request

(WSPA)— It may be a little harder for you to find the ages of your favorite actors and actresses on IMDB.

While IMDb is widely used by the public for free, the website also sells industry professionals access to directories and resume tools for $150 per year.

Under a new law signed by California’s Governor, subscription websites used by entertainment employers must remove date of birth information, if requested.

The Screen Actors Guild supports the law, saying it will help stop discrimination. Critics are calling the decision censorship, that won’t prevent anything.

The Internet Association says it’s disappointed with the new law.
