Semi-trailer carrying over 25,000 pounds of cookie dough catches on fire in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Firefighters were working to put out a semi-trailer fire on Interstate 465 Tuesday morning. The trailer was carrying 29,000 pounds of cookie dough.

As of 5:19 a.m. the southbound lanes of Shadeland Avenue were shut down south of Fall Creek Road as fire crews brought in more trucks and a tanker for aid in this fire.

Indiana State Police said the truck driver is fine. They said the driver unhooked the trailer and got the truck away just in time.

INDOT said they are already inspecting the southbound Shadeland overpass at I-465 for damage from this fire.

The incident started Tuesday just after 3:30 a.m. and the scene was still active as of 7 a.m.
