ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) – The Rockville Police Department is investigating after a ‘skimmer’ was found on an ATM.

The investigation began when a First Financial customer reported unauthorized charges on his bank account. Officials report it was narrowed down to Sept. 28 as to when customer information was obtained by scammers who had placed a skimmer device onto an ATM machine.

This allows the information to be stored and used at a later date.

Officials report these devices are usually placed on top of the card feeder and appear to be a natural part of the ATM. But, it is recommended that customers check the card reader to see if it is loose or appears to have been tampered with.

If customers believe something has been tampered with, make sure you contact your local authorities.

The Rockville Police Department reports two suspects are wanted in connection to this case. Police do not believe the male and female are local but were staying in the area at the time of the crime. The suspects were driving a light blue or grey colored Mercury Monterey Minivan.
