SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTHI) — In its first year with a high school girls’ soccer team, Vincennes Rivet made a huge splash by shocking Washington in the sectional final. The game went all the way to sudden death penalty kicks, but the Patriots defeated the Hatchets 3-2.
Rivet’s first-year goal keeper, Molly Niehaus, was the savior for the Patriots, making a pair of great saves in the penalty kick overtime.
Coach John Anderson said the team spent all week working on penalty kicks, and it clearly paid off.
