Walking through Terre Haute’s history

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – People had a chance to get a blast from the past just by walking in Downtown Terre Haute.

The Vigo County Historical Society held a history walk Sunday.

Participants were given a designated route with stops along their walk.

Each stop had a QR code to scan that gave you information about the building’s architecture and history.

Marylee Hagan with the historical society says around 30 people took part in Sunday’s walk.

“History is such an integral part of every day,” Hagan said. “History is of course one moment ago. And so we of course are the guardians of that history at the historical museum and we want everybody to have a place to come to learn about the history of Terre Haute and Vigo County and the stories that have made us who we are today.”

The history work served as a fundraiser for the Vigo County History Museum.
