Horse trailer blaze backs up traffic on I-70

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Brakes on a horse trailer transporting award-winning horses caught on fire on I-70.

It created a snag for motorists and a challenge for clean-up crews.

It happened around 10:00 Wednesday night at the 14-mile-marker in Clay County.

A flat tire on the trailer triggered the blaze.

Drivers were able to put the fire out using a fire extinguisher.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they helped transport the horses to a farm in Brazil.

All of the horses are okay.

Traffic was congested for some time while crews worked to clean up the scene.
