TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) — Indiana State dug itself a hole early, but the Sycamores fought back to force overtime against South Dakota today. The Sycamores comeback fell short, though, as Kelvin Cook threw an interception in the second overtime on a trick play. The turnover ended the game with the Coyotes on top 33-30.
Isaac Harker threw for three touchdowns in the game. Two of them were to Miles Thompson, whose 152 yards was a career-high for the Sycamore.
It was the passing of Kelvin Cook, though, that spelled the end of Indiana State. On third and short in double overtime, the Sycamores opted for a double pass trick play. Cook’s pass downfield, however, was off-target and went into the hands of the Coyote defense.
