Driver airlifted after Wednesday morning accident on State Road 246

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – One person had to be airlifted after a single vehicle accident Wednesday morning on State Road 246.

The accident happened around 7:15 a.m. at 8545 E. S.R. 246 – that is near Lewis in southern Vigo County.

Officials report the vehicle ran off the road, into an embankment and then hit a tree. Crews at the scene had to use the ‘jaws of life’ to get the driver out.

That driver then had to be airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis. The condition of that driver is not known at this time.
