GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Greene County Sheriff’s Department has released additional information in regards to the construction worker who was hit on Tuesday morning.
Officials report the accident happened around 8 a.m. on State Road 54 in Switz City. A black SUV traveling west hit a construction worker and then left the scene of the accident.
The driver, a 78-year-old female, told police that she thought she hit an orange construction barrel when she was passing through the construction zone. She proceeded down the road and then pulled over to examine the damage to her vehicle.
The construction worker, a 58-year-old female, was airlifted to Methodist Hospital for broken ribs, a broken arm, contusions to the head and a ruptured spleen.
