Students, staff have a balloon release to remember a special teacher

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Students and staff at a local school remember a special teacher.

A balloon release and moment of silence honored Don Corey on Wednesday. He was a teacher, coach and referee here in the Wabash Valley.

Students and staff gathered at Farrington Grove Elementary to share memories of Mr. Corey which is where he most recently taught.

“Mr. Corey was the man who was a friend to everyone. He didn’t know a stranger. He always had a smile on his face,” explained Ashlee Tanoos, teacher at Farrington Grove.

Tanoos said Corey was a long time substitute teacher at Farringdon Grove and was then hired to teach 4th grade.
