Barricade situation near Farmersburg ends peacefully; no arrest made

FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTHI) – Multiple police agencies were called to the scene of a barricade situation in Farmersburg Monday morning.

Officials report the situation began before 7 a.m.

Indiana State Police and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office were at a home located on 200 East. And, our crew at the scene reported that Terre Haute Police Special Response Team had been called to the scene.

Throughout the morning our crew reports the male suspect inside the home came out onto the porch and placed his weapon at his feet. Members of THPD SRT then approached the suspect and spoke with him.

News 10 spoke with Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom who said this started as a domestic situation. The suspect involved in this barricade situation is the owner of the home and the domestic situation began when girlfriend wanted him to leave. That is when he retreated into the home with a weapon prompting a police response.

Officials report the situation has been resolved in a peaceful manner and, at this time, no arrests have been made.
