SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTHI) – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College celebrated Foundation Day Tuesday.
The day celebrates when Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and her five companions landed at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Classes were cancelled and the day was marked with different service projects.
Andrea Beyke with Mission Effectiveness says it’s a nice reminder that the college was founded on service to others.
“It’s important I think to look back at our roots and see the courage and the determination and the strength that allowed us to be here today, but also in a way that helps us propel forward and really focus on our mission and where we’re going as a college and what we’re called to do from here,” Beyke said.
Around 20 different service projects took place around the campus today.
