Murder suspects already familiar with criminal justice system

Village Quarter death

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – It’s a story many of you asked us to look into.  What are the criminal histories of the four suspects connected to Matt Luecking’s murder? I did some digging and what I found you’ll find quite interesting.

THPD found Luecking’s body in his bed with severe head trauma back on October 24th. The investigation quickly led to the arrests of three individuals, with a fourth facing that same fate once he’s released from an Illinois hospital.

Ben Selig faces assisting a criminal charges. His criminal past includes several lower-level drug charges (possession) from Montgomery and Parke Counties.  He does have one felony conviction for possession of a syringe.

Kathleen Featherstone served 550 days probation on a case out of Greene County.  Linton Police say she and another woman battered a female.  Then, Featherstone tried running the victim over with her vehicle as the victim was trying to get away.

John Collilns took a plea from Vigo County prosecutors this past April 1st.  He was charged with felony receiving stolen auto parts and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The plea deal knocked the felony down to a misdemeanor, and the OVWI was dismissed.  He got time served and no probation.

But wait… there’s more.

Clinton Police arrested Collins on October 12th for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Meth possession is a level 6 felony. He’s free on $1000 bond posted by Don Featherstone, Kathleen’s uncle and the 4th suspect recently connected to this case.

Back in 2013, Don Featherstone was convicted of felony illegal gambling. He was arrested in the same ring that busted former investigator Jim Counterman.

Don Featherstone continues to be hospitalized in Illinois.  The other three suspects will appear in court on Friday.
