TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Some local royals take to the kitchen for a good cause!
We’re talking about the second annual Culinary Queens event.
Famous women of the Wabash Valley prepared dishes to be sold for donations. One of the chefs included News 10’s Brittany Earl.
The money goes to the FSA Counseling Center.
80 women competed last year, and this year the event highlighted 97 queens!
“We’ve had a lot of unfortunate circumstances with domestic violence in our area,” said Courtney Richey, FSA Board Member, “We have a lot of individuals that suffer with mental health issues and the FSA Counseling Center actually provides no cost programs for individuals that can’t afford it. So if anything tonight, even if we don’t raise the money that we’d like tonight, at least we’ll reach somebody about what FSA does.”
The first year, $60,000 was raised for Culinary Queens.
Jennifer Wright raised the most money and was named “Queen of the Night”. Michele Barrett also won an award for showmanship.
