Marshall drops close tournament game to Pana

PANA, Ill. (WTHI) — The Marshall Lions made another early exit from the Illinois football state tournament today. The Lions, who led the early parts of the game, allowed Pana to fight back into it. The Panthers came away with a 36-35 win.

Marshall seized a 35-28 lead in the 4th with a Brock Finkbiner rushing touchdown. But the Panthers struck back with about a minute left in the game.

Finkbiner’s pass was picked off on the final drive securing the Pana win.

The Panthers will travel to Newton next week in the round of 16.
