TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Hundreds of children took part in a fun alternative to celebrate Halloween.
Monday was the Harvest Party at Foursquare Gospel Church in Terre Haute.
Organizers say close to 600 people came out this year. It’s an event where not only kids can grab Halloween goodies, but also have a place to enjoy them safely.
Church members say putting on events like this is part of their purpose of serving the community.
“We intend to stay here and keep doing what we know how to do,” said Merrillyn Smith, Senior Pastor, “to make a place of joy, to make a place where light can shine and where people can feel safe.”
Organizers say more than 400 people attended the Harvest Party last year.
Foursquare Church also holds various events throughout the summer, spring and fall. The church also gives out baskets at Christmas time.
