TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Pancreatic cancer is the third most deadly type of cancer in the United States.
To spread awareness, Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett made a proclamation. It designated Nov. 17 as Pancreatic Cancer Day.
The woman behind the push is Kathy Anderson. She’s a volunteer with the Cancer Action Network, and says this illness is a hard one to diagnose.
“There is no early diagnose.. Usually it’s found while looking for something else” said Anderson. “My son had pancreatic cancer and that’s why I’m involved.”
Anderson tells us the cancer is usually stage 4 by the time they find it.
