TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – You may notice some new foliage taking root in Terre Haute!
That’s thanks to TREES Inc.
Volunteers with the organization spent Saturday planting trees throughout the city.
TREES Inc. Vice-President Brian Conley says 23 trees are going along Ohio, while 77 are bring planted on Margaret Avenue making for 100 trees total.
Conley says the trees should be established in two to three years, but there will be an instant change in the street’s appearances.
“This will really help beautify Margaret Avenue,” he said, “Margaret Avenue is a brand new street that was recently built, and part of the project did not have any landscaping or trees in it. So we thought this would be a great place to plant some trees to make it look more beautiful for the city of Terre Haute.”
Conley says the organization’s goal is to plant 100 trees a year, but this year for the bicentennial, they’ve planted 200 total.
