Cooper Neese honors his late friend Andrew Smith on national signing day

One of Cooper Neese’s biggest dreams became a reality Wednesday when he signed to become a division one basketball player. The Cloverdale star made sure someone near and dear to his heart was there as well.

In January when former Butler Bulldog Andrew Smith passed away at the age of 25 from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma it devastated many close to him, including Neese. The sharpshooter followed in Andrew Smith’s footsteps, joining the Butler program. When Cooper signed his national letter of intent he made sure Smith was with him, placing a picture of his friend at his signing table.  Andrew Smith’s widow  Samantha is very close to Cooper and his family. She was on hand for the signing as well.

Neese says Andrew Smith was a big factor in him picking Butler.
