Two people arrested after traffic stop in Vermillion County

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Two people are behind bars following a traffic stop in Vermillion County.

Police arrested Shawnee Tidwell, 23, and Kody Wright, 31, Saturday night.

It happened along State Road 63 in the area of County Road 800 South. Police say the car, driven by Wright, was going 91 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. Both were arrested following an investigation on several charges.

While searching the car, a deputy and K-9 recovered paraphernalia for both marijuana and methamphetamine along with syringes, scales, $1,100 cash and an open bottle of Hennessy Cognac on the front passenger floorboard.

Officials say Wright had a BAC level of 0.18% and tested positive for marijuana.

Tidwell and Wright were taken to the Vermillion County Jail where they face multiple charges. Wright was booked with a state mandated 12-hour hold. Both are being held on $10,000 bond.

Tidwell was charged with the following:

  1. Failure to Appear (Parke County Circuit Court Warrant)
  2. Possession of Marijuana
  3. Possession of Paraphernalia
  4. Possession of Methamphetamine
  5. Unlawful Possession of a syringe

Wright was charged with the following:

  1. Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated – Endangering a person
  2. Operating a Vehicle with Schedule 1 or 2 controlled substance or its metabolite
  3. Reckless Driving
  4. Possession of Methamphetamine
  5. Unlawful Possession of a Syringe
  6. Possession of Paraphernalia
  7. Driving while suspended or Revoked
  8. Possession of marijuana
  9. Open alcohol container
