SWAT standoff delays school in Richmond

RICHMOND, Ind. (WISH) — Schools in Richmond were delayed Monday morning due to a SWAT standoff on the south side of the city.

Police were called to a home invasion in the 200 block of S. 14th Street around 4 a.m., according to Wayne County emergency dispatch.

A suspect believed to be armed was holding people inside the home hostage.

The incident ended when the suspect was taken into custody around 7 a.m., according to the Palladium-Item.

Richmond Community Schools tweeted it was on a two-hour delay.
