Vigo County Education Foundation awards local schools with $35,000 grant

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Vigo County schools received their annual school grants Thursday morning.

The Vigo County Education Foundation awarded local schools with $35,000 in various grants. This money goes to funding programs at all age levels.

Reading, math and art programs are just a few on the long list of activities this money can provide. The money also funds a mentoring program to ease the transition for students from middle school to high school.

None of these enriching programs would be possible without the donors’ generosity.

“A lot of them have a neat aspect that gets the families involved and brings them into the children’s education,” explained Jane Nichols, executive director with Vigo County Education Foundation. “The more people that contribute to a child’s academic success the better.”

The foundation will also award individual teacher grants this upcoming summer.
