TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Two arrests have been made in connection with the fatal hit and run accident that happened at 8th and Hulman streets Friday morning.

It happened at 5 Friday morning at South 8th and Hulman in Terre Haute.

A press release sent by Terre Haute Police Chief Plasse stated the two vehicles involved were a 2008 Honda Ridgeline and a 2004 GMC Yukon. Officers on the scene found the Ridgeline had extensive damage and that there were two males inside the vehicle.

The Yukon was empty but did have blood on the driver’s side.

Terre Haute Fire Department Battalion Chief Joe Swan confirmed with our crew at the scene Friday morning that the driver of the Honda had died. That driver was later identified as 46 year-old Shannon Orr. His passenger was taken to Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

At about 5:10 a.m. Vigo County Central Dispatch received a call from a Tiffany Jones, 28, stating her  2004 GMC Yukon had been stolen from the gas station at 13 Street and Locust Street.

But, during an interview with Jones, officials learned she had placed the Yukon in her name for loan purposes, but that it had always been in the possession of Anthony Sheehy.  “Investigators further learned that Sheehy had phoned Jones and instructed her to report the vehicle stolen just before she phoned the Vigo County Central Dispatch,” the THPD press release stated.

Sheehy was located and taken to the police department for questioning. “Investigators also obtained and executed a baker warrant to obtain blood and DNA samples for analysis and future comparison,” Plasse stated.

Tiffany Jones has been arrested for assisting a criminal, obstruction and false reporting.  Anthony Sheehy has been arrested for OVWI causing death, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and obstruction.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Terre Haute Police Department at (812) 238-1661.
