TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – It was a chilly Thanksgiving morning for runners during the third annual Turkey Trot in downtown Terre Haute.
The 5K Run/Walk collects canned goods for local soup kitchens and food pantries to help those less fortunate. Organizers say they were able to raise nearly 3,500 pounds of food this year alone. And all that food – stays right here in our community.
“There’s a lot of people in need in our community,” Ethan Page, president of Crossroads Events said. A lot of people that this goes to help. So, coming out and having fun on Thanksgiving, not only do you get to have fun and get to be with the community, but you get to give back as well.”
Nearly 500 people participated in this year’s event, the largest turnout so far. For race results, click here.
