Parks department cuts ribbon on new trail

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Next time you’re at the Wabashiki area, you might notice some changes.

The eastern trailhead of the Wabashiki Trail is now ready for visitors.

The Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department held a grand opening on Thursday.

This new addition creates a safe nd welcoming landscaped area for the trail.

You’ll notice a new parking area and flower meadow.

“In spring we’ll have exercise equipment that’ll be available. A lot of runners here in town use this trail. It’ll be nice for them to get out of their car, walk on our pathway up to some exercise equipment…stretch out…take their run,” Adam Grossman from the parks department said.

A $10,000 grant paid for this new addition

Several groups helped with the project.
