TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Spirits will be brighter for local children in need this holiday.

Thanks to the Noon Optimist Club, close to 1,000 children will be properly dressed for the winter.

It’s part of their Clothe-A-Child Drive.

With the help of several Vigo County teachers, kids met at the southside Wal-Mart to be properly sized and fitted for everything they need. This includes new coats, hoodies, shirts, pants, socks and underwear.

The Clothe-A-Child Drive is an effort to raise more than $50,000 to clothe children in the Terre Haute area. Children in grades K-5 are eligible to receive clothing.

The Terre Haute Super Wal-Mart on South U.S. 41 sponsored the event.
