Man accused of shooting Cloverdale police officer arrested

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – An arrest is made in a police-involved shooting in Putnam County.

Police arrested Jeffrey Hunter, 48, on Saturday after his release from the hospital. He faces multiple charges including Attempted Murder, Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Battery and Theft. A court date has not been set yet.

The incident happened last Saturday after an alleged theft from a tractor supply store in Greencastle.

Police confronted Hunter at his home on County Road 375 South. Officials say there’s where Hunter shot at police and struck Cloverdale Police Officer Luke Brown.

Brown returned fire, sending Hunter to the hospital.
