TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – An area food drive targets an overlooked holiday season need.
Harrison College held the Next Day Food Drive in Terre Haute.
Organizers say it represents the meals after the holiday. This as local food pantries say they see a lot of generosity before the holidays, but also deplete afterwards.
That’s where the Drive Through Santa and Next Day Food Drive comes in.
Donations were taken for local food pantries, while kids were able to visit with old Saint Nick.
“It’s cold out here, but you’re just warm inside because it’s so much fun,” said Glenna Cheesman, Harrison College Alumni Board Member, “You just don’t think about the coldness right now. Just having Santa here, and seeing the kids coming to get free cookies and hot cocoa, and then the presents and seeing the donations we’re getting in the barrels. It’s just so great!”
This is the first year for the Next Day Food Drive and Drive Through Santa event.
