VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Saturday was a dreary day, but graduates still had a lot to smile about!
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College hosted its 180th commencement ceremony.
71 graduates donned caps and gowns and walked down the aisle to receive the degrees they’ve earned.
For some of those graduates, the legacy continues in the family. For one Wabash Valley mother and her daughter, they both are Saint Mary alum.
“I think it’s wonderful she decided to come to The Woods,” said Sally Burnham, “because it’s such an intriguing environment for women, and it’s just a wonderful, special place.”
“Well, my mom and I are really close,” said Sarah Burnham, “She’s my best friend, and it means a lot to me to be able to follow in her footsteps here at Saint Mary’s.”
The 117 students eligible for graduation this winter from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College come from 19 different states.
Indiana State University also celebrated their new Sycamore alums Saturday.
Nearly 900 sycamores walked across the stage. That includes roughly 270 graduates and 620 undergraduates.
During his welcome address, President Dan Bradley encouraged students to take a “Thank You” selfie and post it to social media. To check out those posts, search for #SycamoreAlum.
