NEW YORK (WCMH) — Half of Americans say they approve of the way President-elect Donald Trump is handling the transition and his preparations to take the Oval Office, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

By party, 82 percent of Republicans, 12 percent of Democrats, and 53 percent of independents say they approve.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed disapprove of how Mr. Trump has been preparing to become president.

The president-elect’s approval is below President Barack Obama’s in Dec. 2008 (73 percent).

The new poll also finds 55 percent of Americans say say they are significantly bothered by the news that hackers were involved in trying to influence November’s presidential election.

The poll was conducted Dec. 12-15 of 1,000 adults.
